Thomas Lindner is the chairman of the executive board of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), the German newspaper published daily in Frankfurt am Main.
Thomas Lindner is trained in the banking industry and educated in economics at the University Münster. In 1994, after his MBA at the UC Berkeley, he joined the publishing group Gruner + Jahr in Hamburg. Until 2008, he was the advertising manager and responsible for the media brands Stern, GEO and Art. In 2008 he became the managing director of the Agenda group, Gruner + Jahr’s largest newspaper group. Since 2014 he is the CEO of the FAZ.
The FAZ is a high-profile national newspaper and one of the most influential in Germany. It has the second largest circulation nationwide, with 256,188 copies in 2016, and the widest abroad, being delivered to around 148 countries. Thomas Lindner introduced new, innovative products to the newspaper’s strategy, such as the weekly issue “FAZ Woche“ and an economics magazine called “Metropol“. He has ambitious goals for the newspaper and interesting insights for the future of the print media.
